#ReadThemAllThon TBR Pile

I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them is my cause

I will travel across the land
Searching far and wide
Each Pokemon to understand
The power that’s inside

POKEMON, GOTTA CATCH EM ALL!

I am sorry for getting that stuck in your head…..

I have been playing so much Pokemon Go  recently it getting to be an addiction. I am currently level 19, not 100% on my top six, I am halfway to being happy but I digress.

The wonderful lady at ReadatMidnight is hosting the #ReadThemAllThon and even though I have sucked at readathons in the past I am determined to stick with this one! Its Pokemon related!

The ReadAThon runs from Sunday 14th September to Sunday 4th August.

Btw all of the graphics are hers, I still have zero idea how to use photoshop! Also if you have any tip and tricks or know of any tutorials on photoshop please let me know I am a total beginner and I need some serious help!

I have very few books at will make me cry, they just aren’t my type of novel to read per say. I do have Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz. It is a contemporary which I am not 100% in love with but it has been on my shelf forever.

357 pages, possible 35cp

I am generally one to jump off the hype train as it has led me on horrible book adventures. But there is one book series that I haven’t started but everyone seems to adore Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I know don’t shoot.

390 pages, possible 39cp

I have very few books unread that feature diversity. I know its a sham! I do choose Boy Meets Boy by David Leviathan. It is a shorter book but its pretty much the only one!

185 pages, possible 18cp

This was another difficult one for me as I have no epic romances in my unread bookshelf but I do have A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray and its set in the 1800’s so heres hoping there is a romance somewhere in there!

403 pages, possible 40cp

For this one I chose Red Rising by Pierce Brown, I have no idea if it is post-apocalyptic. I mean its in space and it has class/race theme so I am assuming it will be post-apocalyptic!

Books I need to Finish!

IMG_9417

I have such a bad issue with stopping in the middle of books that I am throughly enjoying, I have absolutely no idea why I do this to myself at all.

My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier.

This book so far is brilliant, I am 150 pages in and I am loving it. It follows a 17 year old boy who just wants to move back to Australia where is his friends are but he is forced to move around the world wit his family. His biggest job is making sure his little sister doesn’t hurt anyone as he believes she is a psychopath. Its very slow burning, which I do like and the pace that we get backstory information is very suspenseful.

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige.

I am about 150 pages into this and I have put it down twice but the story is so interesting that I do want to keep reading it! This follows Amy who travels into the Wizard of Oz land, but Dorothy is a evil dictator. Fun! The Wicked Witches have to train Amy to take down the crazy Dorothy!

The Raven Boy by Maggie Steifvater.

I am 160 pages into this brilliant book. It took me forever to pick up this book in the first place but I am so annoyed I started it in my horrible book slump! This is such a unique and amazing story so far and all I hear is amazing things.

Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.

This has been a long time coming, I am on my second round of trying to read this massive book. I am such a fan of the TV series but I really want to read the series! I think the idea that this is my first massive high fantasy series I have ever tried to read is so daunting!

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare.

I binged the frist 3 books of this series but this book fell so flat so I put it down. I should pick it back up again but I do know that the next books do get better and better. I just felt so disappointed and I was kind of sick of the two main characters, they are such complainers!

Until the next time I read A book

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone ~ Illustrated Edition
This one to me is quite obvious as it is stunning! I think anyone who owns this knows how beautiful the entire novel is! It brings even more magic into the world of Harry Potter!

The Game of Thrones History
This is an amazing, gains book which I have yet to do more than flip through and marvel at the illustrations. I might wait until I have fully read the entire series before delving into this one.

The fox and the Star
The story itself was wonderful but accompanied by some stunning illustrations just made the read enchanting.

Uprooted
I am only a little bit through this book but this was 100% a cover by, not only do I love fantasy novels I love stunning covers.

Anne of Green Gables
This is one again that was a cover buy. It was too adorable to pass up and it is in a collection so there are about 4 more classics with these beautiful covers.

Are there any covers that you adore? Let me know in the comments below!

One Book TBR

Last months reading was appalling. I read three graphic novels, that it.

I’ve been in a strange up and down slump for the past few months now and I can’t finish TBR lists or read the books I am dying to read. I can’t shake it.

For this month I have one book I am planning on reading this month.

Game Of Thrones by George.R.R.Martin

I know what you’re thinking ‘If you are in a slump why start reading a massive high fantasy book series?’. To be honest it probably isn’t a wise choice but I just went ‘Screw it’. Plus, I have finally caught up with the show and I am in love with it so I have decided to fall in love with the book series as well.

Book Buying Ban: Update

Over the past five to six weeks I have been on a book buying ban. The Main reason being that I spend too much money on books, money that needs to go on more important and adult life things. However boring that may seem I did save some money which is pretty great!

I had three rules going into this ban.

  1. I had two books I wanted to buy, Outlander and A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet. Both of which I did not buy because I couldn’t find the right covers.
  2. I was still able to buy graphic novels. Which I did for the most part.
  3. I can buy books I have already read but don’t own on my shelf.

So I adhered to these rules very well. I didn’t buy a single book and it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. I haven’t entered a book store in a long time and I avoided the book sections in department stores.

Everything went surprisingly well and according to plan!

IMG_8776

Except for one fact, I haven’t read anything in the past month and before that I read maybe 2 books. My main reason to do this was also to get some major reading done and to get my TBR back to a smaller pile. It hasn’t shifted. Ive tried everything to get out of my book slump, I followed all of the suggestions!

My ban was successful in some cases but in others I feel like I have failed. I will the lift the ban for now, I can go and buy any book my heart desires, any suggestions? I have been out of the loop for a while.
