Hello!
Today I thought I might hit you up with a currently reading post, you know instead of doing things I need to be doing! Whoops!
Trigger warning. Short Fictions and Disturbances by Neil Gaiman.
This book is fantastic so far, this is one of my first short story collections and so far what I have read has been brilliant. Unfortunately for me I have gotten “70 page syndrome”. Now I know what you are thinking, “what the hell is 70 page syndrome?”. Well its when I start reading a book, I will be loving this book but for some unknown reason I read 70-75 pages of it and then I stop. I want to continue reading but I just don’t pick up the book again for a while. I think there are about 20 books that I did this with. Its a struggle. I am going to finish this though. Hopefully this month I will end up picking it up!
City of Glass by Cassandra Clare.
I didn’t plan for me to read this far into the series. I honestly thought I would have given up by now, but as it seems this book is really addictive. I still don’t like reading from Clary and Jace so this book is slightly better in that respect since there are different point of views. I have about 70 pages left of this one so I’ll probably finish this today and I will be reading the 4th book. Although not going to bother reading the Infernal Devices just because I don’t care for it really!
All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.
I am 19 pages into this historical fiction. Still counts. I have only read one other historical fiction before and adored it so I am hoping for great things from this book! I have heard amazing things and every seemed to love this book last year! So historical fiction, world war 2, paris? What is not to love?
The Girl in 6E by A.R. Torre.
I am so hyped for this book! I have been desperate for another thriller in my life! I haven’t started this book yet but once I have finished City of Glass I will be picking this one up! Its about a girl who has extreme bloodlust but she also knows that its wrong so she has locked herself in apartment 6E, earning money from doing live cam shows, and then she leaves the apartment and I assume trouble ensues.
So have you read any of these books? Or do you also get “70 page syndrome”? Let me know!
Until the next time I read a book

I’ve found myself steadily falling for more and more historical fiction. Wow, I just noticed All the Light We Cannot See won the Pulitzer Prize. Impressive. I just wished I enjoyed war settings more.

Yeah it takes me a while to fall in love with historical fiction. I find war settings to be really fantastic when they are done well, although I think we could start using anything but WW2!

You’re so right. WW2 historical-fic has been so overdone.

Exactly. Every time I see a historical 90% of the time it is based around WW2

Really?! Wow. I tend to prefer 1800s England for some reason, maybe because of the early classics I read like Pride and Prejudice, Dickens, etc.

Me and classics have a weird relationship. I own so many and I really want to read them but my god I just can’t get through many of them!
